Lucia Corsini is a research associate in the Design Management Group, Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge. Her research explores how distributed manufacturing and digital fabrication can help to solve complex societal problems in resource-constrained settings.
Lucia was previously a PhD student in the Design Management Group, conducting research on design transitions to social sustainability. Her PhD specifically focused on Digital Fabrication for Development in the Global South. Lucia has a BA and MEng in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and has studied 3D Design at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London.
She has experience working on design and innovation projects in the public, private and third sector. She has received awards for her research from the Winton Programme for the Physics of Sustainability, Smart Villages, the Cambridge Malaysian Education and Development Trust and the Cambridge Creative Circular Plastics Centre. Since 2017 Lucia has lectured on Product Form, Design History, Human Factors and Ergonomics at the University of Cambridge. She has also supervised or facilitated modules on Product Design (3rd year undergraduates), Sustainable Engineering (2nd year undergraduates) and Technical Drawing (1st Year undergraduates).
