Corporate culture is crucial to an organization’s success, as it influences teamwork, productivity, efficiency, and customer service ability. However, there has yet to be a consensus on measuring corporate culture. Most tools used for measuring corporate culture are self-reported questionnaires, which are prone to faking.
The inventors have developed a machine learning text-analysis projective assessment for corporate culture using a case study of one of Indonesia’s largest state-owned telecommunications companies, which has recently undergone significant organizational changes, including digital transformation.
The method uses narrative stories written by the respondents in response to the Thematic Apperception Test, which are then analysed using machine learning techniques to measure the respondents’ subconscious behaviours. The results of the case study show that this method is expected to be more reliable and remove the bias shown by traditional questionnaire-based measurements.
The challenge for the i-Team is to investigate the market interest for this type of tool, including looking at what techniques companies use currently (if any), and the types of situations where they would want to measure their internal culture.
